AV technology installation in learning spaces request form
Digital Learning Technologies (DLT) installs audiovisual (AV) technology in university learning spaces, such as classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and auditoriums. Specific technologies include projectors, large flat-panel monitors, speakers, screens, video conferencing equipment, collaboration spaces, and control panels to manage a learning space's technology components.
We consult with faculty, staff, departments, and colleges and design the technology components for a specific learning space. After approval of the request, DLT manages the installation process and coordinates various service groups and vendors who may be involved.
University-supported installations:
A portion of university IT funds and student computing fees are set aside each budget year for the specific purpose of installing, refurbishing, and upgrading AV teaching technologies in university learning spaces. These installations should be designated general use/access classrooms, labs, auditoriums, and seminar/conference rooms, available for use by any student, faculty, department or college.
On behalf of the university, Digital Learning Technologies administers student computing fees for general use/access learning spaces (previously known as e-classrooms). Installations follow the Standard Specifications for Audiovisual Classrooms (Foundation Levels).
Learning spaces funding
Many learning spaces installation projects may be eligible for funding through the University of Utah student computing fee awards (allocated annually), overseen by the university's Teaching & Learning Portfolio. Guidelines for submitting funding proposals are found at the overview page for the Student Computing Fees Learning Spaces Funding Proposals.
A college or department may want to install AV equipment in a conference/seminar room, classroom, lecture hall, or lab that is wholly controlled and scheduled by that college or department, and is not primarily considered general use/access by the campus. Such installations and maintenance are usually paid for directly by a college or department. DLT is available to consult, design, and install these rooms for a college or department, leveraging our installation expertise and purchasing discounts. DLT provides quotes before any work begins.
