Class & Event Recording Request Form

Digital Learning (DL) provides digital video recording and streaming of university-related classes, lectures, student presentations, conferences, workshops, and other special projects on- and off- campus. We also deliver audiovisual content on hard media, in streaming format, and as live broadcasts via the Internet. DL provides video editing and post-production services, including arranging for closed captioning.

Digital Learning is a campus service department, we are restricted to conducting business and services only related to University of Utah teaching, learning, research and creative endeavors.

Scheduling

DL requires pre-scheduling for all video recordings in order to ensure the availability of equipment and camera operators. Recording requests for your course and event recording must be received at least one week before the start date of the event.

Rush Requests

DL defines a rush requests as any video recordings request taking place after the recording request submission deadline mentioned above. We will only accept rush requests for video recording if a camera operator is available. We charge a $20.00 express service fee for rush requests we can accommodate.

No-Shows & Cancellations

DL reserves the right to charge up to the full value of a job order for no-shows and for cancellations taking place less than 48 hours before the start time of a schedule event. No-shows and cancellation fees cover total work time leading up to the no-show or cancellation.

Price List

Below is a base price listing for recording services and includes a single camera operator to film/encode, one camera, a tripod, laptop, and post the content to Kaltura. Prices are subject to vary depending on recording needs, contact our Class & Event Recording Services for more detailed information on charges and to obtain an estimate of costs for your class & event.

Course Video Recording ― $20/hr
Course Live Streaming ― $35/hr
Non-Course Video Recording ― $35/hr
Non-Course Live Streaming ― $65/hr


Payment 

DL does require a University of Utah chartfield in order to start a video recording or service. A journal entry will be generated using this information and our video work will be charged to it. Your chartfield will not be charged until work is complete and delivered.

Note: DL accepts University purchasing card payments; however, you will still need to enter a chartfield to submit your request. If you are planning on paying by card, please call 801-581-6744 to give your card information after you have submitted your request. When submitting payment information, please reference the Zendesk ticket number that you receive in your confirmation email. Your provided chartfield will not be charged if you provide University purchasing card information. Purchasing card information will not be shorted on file for future requests.

Please enter the Canvas Course ID Number for the course/class you will be recording. To find your course ID, go to the home page of your Canvas course. The course ID will appear at the end of the home page's URL in your browser (see image below for example). Your class recording will automatically be published to the Media Gallery for the course.

Streaming Video Delivery


NOTE: Once a requested recording is complete, the video file will be uploaded to the requester’s My Media account in Canvas and Mediaspace. Videos that are recorded for course/class purposes will also be automatically published to the Media Gallery of the provided course so students will have access to them for viewing.


Videos that are recorded for event/conference/workshop purposes will be uploaded to the requester’s My Media account in Mediaspace. The requester can pull shareable URLs or embed codes for their videos and create playlists if desired.
